KCBS Desoto Shrine Club

This past weekend we cooked at another KCBS contest in Hernando, MS – Desoto Shrine Club. We got a 2nd place call in chicken, a 5th place call in pork and a 6th place overall. This contest is a nice, shady contest… a great local contest for anyone who is interested. But there is one thing I have to say – it is almost getting too hot for BBQ contests in Mississippi. In 2 weeks from now we are going to compete in the Tennessee State Championship BBQ Cook-Off in Lawrenceburg, TN on June 25th and 26th. Then we are going to take a little break and wait until the weather cools down. Of course, we are going back to Galax, VA for the Virginia State BBQ Championship on July 16 & 17. This is an MBN contest but it is up in the mountains and the temperature stays around (or below) 80 degrees. Last year we took home a nice shoulder trophy – a fiddle… and this year we want to come back home with another one. This is one of our favorite contests because of the great little town, the weather and the awesome trophies.
